WooCommerce Makeover Official Rules<\/h1>\n\n

Last updated: November 5, 2026.<\/p>\n\n

1. Sponsor<\/h2>\n\n

The Saucal WooCommerce Makeover (the \u201cContest\u201d) is sponsored by Saucal Inc, a company incorporated in Barbados, whose registered office is at #80 Valley View, Vaucluse, St. Thomas, BB22026, Barbados (the \u201cSponsor\u201d or \u201cSaucal\u201d). Saucal Inc is the only sponsor of the Contest. No affiliate of Saucal Inc, including any Saucal entity in Canada, is a sponsor or has any obligation under these rules.<\/p>\n\n

2. No purchase necessary<\/h2>\n\n

No purchase or payment of any kind is required to enter or to win. Entering does not improve or reduce your chances of winning.<\/p>\n\n

3. Who can enter<\/h2>\n\n

3.1 Entrant.<\/strong> The entrant is the business that operates the store named in the application (the \u201cEntrant\u201d), not the individual who completes the form. The application must be submitted by an individual who has reached the age of majority where they live and who is authorised to enter the Contest, and to accept the prize, on behalf of the Entrant.<\/p>\n\n

3.2 Eligibility.<\/strong> To be eligible, the Entrant must, on the date it applies:<\/p>\n\n

(a) operate an online store built on WooCommerce;<\/p>\n\n

(b) have generated at least $1,000,000 USD in online revenue through that store in the 12 months before the date of application, or have received an average of 50 or more orders a day through that store over the same period;<\/p>\n\n

(c) subject to Rule 3.5, be established and have its principal place of business in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or Australia; and<\/p>\n\n

(d) not be a Current Client (see Rule 3.3).<\/p>\n\n

3.3 Current Clients.<\/strong> A \u201cCurrent Client\u201d is any business, or any affiliate of a business, that has an active contract, statement of work or subscription with Saucal or any of its affiliates at any time between the date it applies and the date the winner is selected. An Entrant that becomes a Current Client before the winner is selected is no longer eligible.<\/p>\n\n

3.4 Excluded persons.<\/strong> Applications cannot be submitted by, or on behalf of businesses owned or controlled by, employees, contractors, officers or owners of Saucal or its affiliates, the Judges, or members of their immediate families or households.<\/p>\n\n

3.5 Quebec.<\/strong> Businesses established or with their principal place of business in Quebec, and applications submitted by Quebec residents, are not eligible.<\/p>\n\n

3.6 One entry per store.<\/strong> Each store may be entered only once. If more than one application is received for the same store, only the first complete application will be considered.<\/p>\n\n

3.7 Verification.<\/strong> Saucal may at any time ask an Entrant to provide reasonable evidence of its eligibility, such as a revenue or order report from WooCommerce or the Entrant\u2019s payment processor, or confirmation from the Entrant\u2019s accountant, together with evidence of the submitting individual\u2019s authority. All such information will be treated as confidential under Rule 11.2. If an Entrant does not provide satisfactory evidence within 7 days of being asked, or if any information in its application is found to be false or misleading, Saucal may disqualify it. Saucal may also withdraw the prize if it has already been awarded.<\/p>\n\n

4. Entry period<\/h2>\n\n

Applications open on October 9, 2026 and close on December 1, 2026 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time (the \u201cClosing Date\u201d). Applications received after that time are not eligible. Judging will be completed, and the winner notified, by December 15, 2026. The winner will be announced under Rule 8A within 30 days after accepting the prize.<\/p>\n\n

5. How to enter<\/h2>\n\n

Complete the application form at saucal.com\/woocommerce-makeover\/ with your store URL, work email, annual online revenue range, country, state, province or territory, and a description of the one thing you would most like to improve. To submit the form, you must confirm that you have read and agree to these rules. Applications must be submitted in English. Incomplete applications, and applications submitted by automated means, are not eligible.<\/p>\n\n

6. Prize<\/h2>\n\n

6.1 The prize.<\/strong> One winner receives up to $10,000 USD in Saucal development services, scoped together with the winner according to what is feasible within that budget. The prize has no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash and cannot be transferred. All dollar amounts in these rules are in US dollars. If the agreed project would cost more than $10,000 USD, any additional work is optional, quoted separately and carries no obligation. The prize services are supplied by Saucal Inc.<\/p>\n\n

6.2 Tax.<\/strong> The approximate retail value of the prize is up to $10,000 USD, based on Saucal\u2019s standard rates for the services provided. The winner is solely responsible for all taxes, duties, levies and charges of any kind arising from receiving or using the prize in any country, including income, corporation, sales, goods and services or value added taxes. Saucal will not pay or reimburse any such amount. As a condition of receiving the prize, the winner must provide any tax information or forms Saucal reasonably requests to meet any reporting obligations it may have. If Saucal is required by law to withhold or account for any tax on the prize, the winner must pay that amount to Saucal before the services begin, or Saucal may reduce the scope of the prize by the equivalent value. Entrants should seek their own tax advice.<\/p>\n\n

6.3 Scoping.<\/strong> Within 7 days after accepting the prize, the winner and Saucal will begin scoping the project. The scope will be recorded in a written statement of work agreed by both parties. If no statement of work has been agreed within 30 days after the winner accepts the prize, the prize lapses. That period is extended for any delay caused by Saucal. Saucal will act reasonably and in good faith in scoping, and it will not refuse a scope that is technically feasible within the prize value.<\/p>\n\n

6.4 Delivery period.<\/strong> The services must be delivered within 90 days after the statement of work is agreed (the \u201cDelivery Period\u201d). The Delivery Period will be extended by the length of any delay caused by Saucal, or by circumstances beyond either party\u2019s reasonable control. It will not be extended for delays caused by the winner, such as late approvals, content, access or feedback. Any part of the prize value not used by the end of the Delivery Period, as extended, expires.<\/p>\n\n

6.5 Services agreement.<\/strong> Before work starts, the winner must sign Saucal\u2019s standard services agreement, which is available on request from yo@saucal.com. That agreement, together with the statement of work, governs the services. In summary, and subject to the full terms of the agreement:<\/p>\n\n

(a) Intellectual property. Once the services are complete, the winner owns the custom code and deliverables created specifically for it. Saucal keeps ownership of its pre-existing tools, code libraries, know-how and products, including RADAR, and grants the winner a non-exclusive, perpetual licence to use any of these that are incorporated into the deliverables, for the winner\u2019s own store.<\/p>\n\n

(b) Warranty. Saucal will perform the services with reasonable skill and care. It will correct, at no charge, any defect in its deliverables that the winner reports within 30 days after delivery. The services are otherwise provided without other warranties, to the extent permitted by law.<\/p>\n\n

(c) Liability. Saucal\u2019s liability in connection with the services is limited as set out in the services agreement and in Rule 11.3.<\/p>\n\n

(d) Access, backups and approvals. The winner must give Saucal timely access to its store, staging environment and relevant systems. It must keep current, complete backups of its store and data before and during the work, and it is responsible for reviewing and approving changes before they go live.<\/p>\n\n

6.6 Costs not included.<\/strong> The prize covers only Saucal\u2019s development services. It does not include, and the winner is responsible for, any third-party costs, such as software licences, premium plugins or themes, hosting, domains, payment or transaction fees, third-party APIs or subscriptions, and any ongoing maintenance or support after the Delivery Period, unless Saucal agrees otherwise in writing.<\/p>\n\n

6.7 Metorik prize.<\/strong> The winner also receives one year of Metorik with email marketing. This part of the prize is supplied by Metorik, a third party, not by Saucal. Metorik’s own terms apply to it, and Saucal is not responsible for delivering it. One of the judges works at Metorik. Metorik supplying this prize has no effect on how entries are judged.<\/p>\n\n

6A. Runner-up prizes<\/h2>\n\n

6A.1 The prizes.<\/strong> Three runner-ups each receive one year of Saucal Maintenance: monthly plugin, WooCommerce and WordPress updates tested on a staging copy, plus uptime and security monitoring. The runner-up prizes are supplied by Saucal Inc at no charge.<\/p>\n\n

6A.2 Who wins them.<\/strong> The runner-ups are the next three highest-scoring eligible entrants after the winner, chosen under Rule 7. They are notified, must accept and are replaced on the same terms and within the same times as the winner.<\/p>\n\n

6A.3 No renewal.<\/strong> Each plan runs for 12 months from the date it starts. It does not renew automatically and nothing is charged when it ends. Saucal will offer a paid plan only if the runner-up asks for one.<\/p>\n\n

6A.4 Value and tax.<\/strong> The approximate retail value of each runner-up prize is $4,188 to $11,988 USD, depending on the plan that fits the store. Rule 6.2 applies to the runner-up prizes in the same way as to the main prize. Runner-up prizes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred.<\/p>\n\n

7. How the winner is chosen<\/h2>\n\n

7.1 <\/strong> The winner will be chosen by a judging panel of four judges: three senior members of Saucal\u2019s engineering and leadership team and one independent judge who is not an employee, contractor, owner or immediate family member of Saucal (the \u201cJudges\u201d). The Judges\u2019 names are available on request from yo@saucal.com.<\/p>\n\n

7.2 <\/strong> Each Judge will score every eligible application out of 100, using these criteria: business impact (40 points), feasibility within the prize budget (35 points) and clarity of the problem description (25 points). Each application\u2019s final score is the average of the Judges\u2019 scores. The eligible application with the highest final score wins.<\/p>\n\n

7.3 <\/strong> A Judge who has any personal, family, financial or business connection with an entrant must declare it and will not score that application. That application\u2019s final score will be the average of the remaining Judges\u2019 scores.<\/p>\n\n

7.4 <\/strong> If two or more applications have the same final score, the application with the higher average score for business impact wins. If they are still tied, the Judges will decide by majority vote, and the independent judge will have the casting vote.<\/p>\n\n

7.5 <\/strong> This is a contest of skill, judged on merit. Chance plays no part. The Judges\u2019 decisions on scoring and on the winner are final.<\/p>\n\n

8. Winner notification<\/h2>\n\n

8.1 <\/strong> The highest-scoring Entrant will be notified by email at the address given in its application by the date stated in Rule 4.<\/p>\n\n

8.2 <\/strong> To accept the prize, the Entrant must reply within 7 days of the notification email, confirming acceptance and providing any information requested under Rule 3.7 and Rule 6.2.<\/p>\n\n

8.3 <\/strong> The prize will be offered to the next highest-scoring eligible Entrant, on the same terms and with the same 7 days to accept, if the notified Entrant does any of the following:<\/p>\n\n

(a) does not reply in time;<\/p>\n\n

(b) declines the prize;<\/p>\n\n

(c) cannot be contacted; or<\/p>\n\n

(d) is found to be ineligible.<\/p>\n\n

8.4 <\/strong> The process in Rule 8.3 will be repeated no more than three times after the first offer. If no Entrant has accepted the prize by then, it will not be awarded, and Saucal will post a notice saying so on this page.<\/p>\n\n

8A. Winner announcement and publicity<\/h2>\n\n

(a) Within 30 days after the winner accepts the prize, Saucal will announce the winning store\u2019s name and the town or city and state, province, county or territory where the winning business is based. The announcement will appear on saucal.com\/woocommerce-makeover\/ and may also appear on Saucal\u2019s website, newsletters and social media channels. By entering, each entrant agrees that this information may be published if it is selected as the winner.<\/p>\n\n

(b) Saucal will publish the name, photograph, job title or other personal details of any individual connected with the winning business only with that individual\u2019s prior written consent. An individual may decline or withdraw consent at any time by emailing yo@saucal.com. If consent is withdrawn, Saucal will stop new uses but is not required to recall materials already published.<\/p>\n\n

(c) The winner may object to its store name or location being published by emailing yo@saucal.com before the announcement. Where an objection is made, Saucal will not publish those details. It may still confirm that a winner has been selected, and it will give the winner\u2019s details to any regulator that requests them to confirm the prize was properly awarded.<\/p>\n\n

(d) Saucal may want to publish a case study about the winner\u2019s project, such as a blog post, video, presentation or portfolio entry. Any case study needs the winner\u2019s separate written consent, and accepting or using the prize does not depend on giving it. If the winner consents:<\/p>\n\n

(i) Saucal will share a draft with the winner before publication;<\/p>\n\n

(ii) the winner may require changes to, or removal of, any commercially sensitive information, including revenue, order volumes, conversion rates, other performance data, customer information, and technical or security details of the store; and<\/p>\n\n

(iii) Saucal will not publish the case study until the winner has approved the final version in writing, which the winner will not unreasonably withhold.<\/p>\n\n

(e) No fee or other payment is due to the winner or any individual for any publicity under this Rule 8A.<\/p>\n\n

(f) All personal information processed under this Rule 8A is handled in accordance with Rule 10 and the Privacy Policy.<\/p>\n\n

9. Free Store Scan and Payment Health Check<\/h2>\n\n

Every eligible entrant may run a complimentary RADAR Store Scan and receive the report by email. The scan uses read-only access that the entrant approves in their own store, and it does not read customer names, contact details or individual orders. The report is emailed when the scan finishes, usually within minutes. Running the scan is optional and has no effect on judging. The winner may run it too.<\/p>\n\n

Every eligible entrant may also request a free Payment Health Check from BlueSnap, a payments partner. BlueSnap runs it on its own site and under its own terms. Saucal does not pass any entrant details to BlueSnap, so entrants who want the check give their details to BlueSnap directly. It is optional and has no effect on judging.<\/p>\n\n

10. How we use your information<\/h2>\n\n

We use the information you submit to review your application, contact you about the Contest and deliver your Store Scan. We do not sell it. Our Privacy Policy at saucal.com\/privacy-policy\/ applies. We keep application information for unsuccessful entrants for 12 months after the winner is announced, and then delete it, unless you have separately agreed to receive marketing from us. We keep the winner\u2019s information and Contest administration records for up to six years after the Contest ends, so we can deal with any queries or claims.<\/p>\n\n

11. General conditions<\/h2>\n\n

11.1 Changes to the Contest.<\/strong> Saucal may cancel, suspend or modify the Contest only if fraud, technical failure, a change in law or any other circumstance beyond Saucal\u2019s reasonable control prevents the Contest from being run fairly or as planned. No modification will reduce the prize or materially disadvantage entrants who have already applied. Any change to these rules will be posted on this page, and the \u201cLast updated\u201d date will be revised. If the Contest is cancelled, Saucal will notify entrants by email.<\/p>\n\n

11.2 Confidentiality of applications.<\/strong> Saucal will treat the content of every application as confidential. It will use that content only to administer and judge the Contest and to deliver the Store Scan, and it will share it only with the Judges and with service providers who need it for those purposes and are bound by confidentiality obligations. Saucal will not publish or disclose any entrant\u2019s application, apart from the winner announcement under Rule 8A, anything the winner separately agrees to in writing, and anything Saucal is required by law to disclose. Information that is already public, or that Saucal already holds outside the Contest, is not confidential under this Rule.<\/p>\n\n

11.3 Liability.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

11.3.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Saucal, its affiliates and their officers, employees and contractors (together, the \u201cSaucal Parties\u201d) are not responsible for: (a) applications that are lost, late, incomplete or not received because of a technical fault or any other cause beyond their reasonable control; (b) any loss of profit, revenue, business, data or goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss, arising from the Contest, the Store Scan or the prize; or (c) any problem arising from third-party software, plugins, hosting or services, or from changes the winner or its contractors make to the store.<\/p>\n\n

11.3.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Saucal Parties\u2019 total liability arising from or in connection with the Contest, including the prize, will not exceed the approximate retail value of the prize, $10,000 USD.<\/p>\n\n

11.3.3 By entering, each entrant releases the Saucal Parties from all claims arising from its participation in the Contest, except claims that cannot lawfully be released.<\/p>\n\n

11.3.4 If the services agreement referred to in Rule 6.5 conflicts with this Rule 11.3, the services agreement prevails as to the services.<\/p>\n\n

11.3.5 Nothing in these rules excludes or limits any liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.<\/p>\n\n

11.4 No guarantee and local law.<\/strong> Submitting an application does not guarantee selection. The Contest is void where prohibited by law.<\/p>\n\n

11.5 Governing law and jurisdiction.<\/strong> These rules, and any dispute or claim arising from or in connection with them or the Contest, including non-contractual disputes or claims, are governed by the laws of Barbados. The courts of Barbados have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim. This Rule does not deprive any entrant of the protection of any mandatory law of the place where it is based that cannot be overridden by agreement.<\/p>\n\n
